FAQ
Why are you called Dress Down Mom?
Because my wardrobe consists of t-shirts and casual wear. I don’t even have any sexy lingerie. I still wear maternity underwear. It is really comfortable! I don’t style my hair and I hardly ever wear make-up. I do wear coffee stains.
Why don’t you use your kids’ real names?
I don’t want to overexpose them in the big wide web world. So you won’t read their names or see any pictures of them. I don’t want to suffer their wrath a decade from now as they jut their hip and jaw out at me and hiss through their braces, “I can’t believe you wrote about my tantrums, Mom! How dare you? I am never speaking to you again.” I am being proactive by avoiding future teenage conflict and confrontation. I have triple trouble coming, don’t forget.
Are all of your blogs based on true experiences?
Yes, most of the time. I am known to embellish or fabricate a story for dramatic effect.
.
With three kids, when do you find time to blog?
Anytime really. While I blog you can find the Wee Ladies climbing on the fireplace, playing with the stove, or lighting matches. There is usually a lot of crying, screaming, and hair pulling taking place.
Why are there no postings on the weekend?
I need to spend time with the Wee Ladies and Hubby. Plus I need to get stuff done around the house. I spend too much time on the computer already and I procrastinate on getting other things done. Like meal preparation. I am starving my family.
Who designed your logo?
The great talent is Grace Hall and she is from Kitimat, British Columbia. She is almost 19 and wants to be a cartoonist, writer, and filmmaker. She definitely knows how to portray moms very well. She likes to watch South Park and movies usually directed by Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez, or Tim Burton. I am envious that she can chill out in silence and read Spider-Man, Superman, Asterix, The Farside, and Cyanide & Happiness comics. She spends her quality spare time drawing cartoons and comic strips and she creates her own graphic novels. She also makes short films that usually star her brother Dylan Hall. She wants to go to art school in September, 2009. Oh, what it would be like to be 19 again. She is way more productive and creative than I ever was. I love her work. Yay for Grace!
Who designed your site?
A great guy named Brian Sadler. He is flexible and is willing to work with a tech-impaired individual like myself. He makes everything user-friendly and does a great job web designing. Yay for Brian!
Who came up with the slogan?
Hubby. There he goes again stealing my thunder. He came up with it in about 2 seconds while in the shower after I had spent weeks stressing over it. Poof! There it is! Just like that!
Why did you start this site?
During the winter of 2008 I was feeling cooped up. Between sickness and the February blues, I thought I was going to slit my wrists. I figured that there had to be other moms feeling the same way, so I thought I would have a place for moms to come, hang out, laugh, and relate.
What is in the DDM's Try Ons section of the site?
I am reviewing products that have been given to me for free. I take new products for a test drive and tell you all about what I think about it.
What is the Great Ideas section about?
It is here where I will unveil neat and novel products that I think are useful to parents.
Can I provide input?
Sure, but only if you have something to say that is not going to criticize, judge, or piss off anyone else. I don’t have time for lectures or preachy opinions.
