December Who’s DDM?
The end of the year is fast approaching and with that, our time in our house/town is too. We sold our house and will be moving in the first few days of the New Year. Our re-location means a new phase, adventures, and opportunities.

We have to get through the holidays first.
I haven’t even started Christmas shopping. I usually wait until the last week before the holiday. I do it all in one trip. I buy the gifts, the wrap, and the bows. I wrap everything all at once, usually after the Wee Ladies go to bed. EvieG is 5 ½ and wants a new plant, tea set, and toy kitchen plates. Spark Plug is 2 ½ and wants anything Tinkerbell. Accessories are a bonus. The Destroyer, who is 1 ½, will like a few boxes, paper to destroy, and anything sweet. I just hope the tree doesn’t fall over on me while I am wrapping because that happened 2 years ago. I was covered with tinsel, ornaments, and lights. I am glad I didn’t get shocked, or burned, like the Griswold’s cat.
We always get a real tree. We hike into the Back 40 with our saw and sled. Hubby gets so annoyed at me because I believe the best trees are at the back of the tree farm. Why would anyone want to trek all the way back there? So we end up taking all 3 Wee Ladies to the back perimeter of the property only to find- nothing. And we turn around and return to the parking lot where we almost always end up finding our tree. A trip that could have been 5 minutes turns into a daunting, frigid, whiny, tiring expedition into the depths of a field of evergreen trees. Where are Hot Shots when you need them?
The Wee Ladies and I will do our Christmas baking and decorating. We always put together a gingerbread house. We make sugar cookies and shortbread. They will each get a new pair of pajamas on Christmas Eve and wake up Christmas morning to a stocking at the end of their beds. This easily keeps them occupied from 5:30 am until 7:00 am. I told Santa to leave them some things in their rooms so that Hubby and I could get a few extra minutes of shut eye before the day’s festivities begin. He told me he understood.
We will have Uncle Jeff with us for the holiday, along with Hubby’s parents. I am not sure what Uncle Paul and Aunt Nancy are up to this year.
And so I will eat. I will eat lots of holiday goodies to celebrate. I will enjoy the treats and the cocktails. I will gain some weight like I always do.
The New Year is just around the corner. Which means my resolution will be the same as last year and the year before….I promise to lose my holiday weight and get in shape. My hopes will be high and then I will give myself a pat on the back for being so positive and celebrate with another star shaped cookie with sprinkles.
All’s I’m sayin’s all.
